Hi, it’s Freda (she/her) from Gossip Grill in Hillcrest. The ongoing joke is that I’m going to legally change my name to “Freda from Gossip.”
It’s my identity that I’m extremely proud of, especially when I run into people out of town, out of our city or even out of our state, and they will recognize me as Freda from Gossip.
I can’t start to tell you what Gossip Grill and Mo’s universe means to me. Everything! That’s my family. It’s my friends. It’s home.
It’s hard to believe we’ve been open for almost 15 years, providing our community with a safe space for all women. Space where you can be your authentic self. A place where you can come for camaraderie, find love, or find yourself. We have created so many beautiful memories, and they’re definitely be more to come.
I was told once by a very wise man, my father, if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Truer words were never spoken.
I’ve been in this industry for 30+ years. And I’ve never regretted it. I make a living hanging out with friends and people I love. What more can you ask for? But seriously, I’m not just a bartender, I’m your fairy gay mother. Therapist, confident, a shoulder to cry on. I wear many hats.
I want to give a big “thank you” to our community. Thank you for your efforts. Thank you for your love. Thank you for allowing me to be myself, to be proud, to live in pride every day.
