Legendary Queer Icon the Babadook Now Has Partner: Pennywise

from edge media network –

The Internet has apparently decided that legendary queer iconic the Babadook has a new partner: Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King’s “It.”

Over the summer, Twitter users declared the Babadook an LGBTQ icon after Netflix added the film the top hat-wearing demon is from, “The Babadook,” to its LGBTQ section. People started to make connections that the film is an allegory of coming out of the closet, as the Babadook literally lives inside a child’s closet.

It didn’t take long for people to latch on to the idea of the Babadook’s new status – a number of people honored the evil entity by dressing up as the Babadook during LGBTQ Pride events around the country.

After the new “It” film was released last week, Twitter users started to wonder if Pennywise the Clown, the creature that terrorizes and eats children, may be LGBTQ too. User @Kumivenarts posted a drawing of the two evil entities together and the tweet earned more than 112,000 likes, and more than 46,000 retweets.
